About East Sepik Province

East Sepik Province is located in the northern region of Papua New Guinea and is known for the Sepik River, rich cultural diversity, traditional art, strong agriculture, and vibrant communities across six districts.

The province includes mountains, rivers, forests, wetlands, and coastal areas. It is one of Papua New Guinea’s most culturally significant provinces and plays an important role in transport, fisheries, agriculture, and tourism.

The province comprises highlands, mountains, valleys, coastal areas, and islands, each presenting unique development challenges. These challenges are compounded by social issues, including law and order concerns, migration, internal displacement, and the high cost of delivering goods and services to remote areas.
